Yes I have heard this too. And have actually believed it as it makes sense.
According to the USDA, HFCS consists of 24% water, and the rest sugars. The most widely used varieties of high-fructose corn syrup are: HFCS 55 (mostly used in soft drinks), approximately 55% fructose and 42% glucose; and HFCS 42 (used in beverages, processed foods, cereals and baked goods), approximately 42% fructose and 53% glucose. HFCS-90, approximately 90% fructose and 10% glucose, is used in small quantities for specialty applications, but primarily is used to blend with HFCS 42 to make HFCS 55.
In the U.S., HFCS is among the sweeteners that have primarily replaced sucrose (table sugar) in the food industry. Factors for this include governmental production quotas of domestic sugar, subsidies of U.S. corn, and an import tariff on foreign sugar; all of which combine to raise the price of sucrose to levels above those of the rest of the world, making HFCS less costly for many sweetener applications.
Critics of the extensive use of HFCS in food sweetening argue that the highly processed substance is more harmful to humans than regular sugar, contributing to weight gain by affecting normal appetite functions , and that in some foods HFCS may be a source of mercury, a known neurotoxin.
The Corn Refiners Association disputes these claims and maintains that HFCS is comparable to table sugar. Studies by the American Medical Association suggest “it appears unlikely that HFCS contributes more to obesity or other conditions than sucrose”, but welcome further independent research on the subject. Further reviews in the clinical literature have disputed the links between HFCS and obesity, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome, and concluded that HFCS is no different from any other sugar in relationship to these diseases.

Article: High-fructose corn syrup
Wither on not High Fructose corn syrup is bad for us is not as important is the high consumption of sugar that occurs from its use. Read the article about High-fructose corn syrup – Yes there may not be direct evidence aganst HFCS but it does make it so that we consume more sugar than is recommended by the American Heart Association.
Our bodies do not need us to eat sweets. Our body will create the amount of sugar it needs for it to function. We can survive without eating any sugar. (unless you are diabetic, or suffer from some other disease related to sugar).
We all know though that — A high daily consumption of Sugar is bad for your health.
There are many items which we eat on a regular basis that is bad for our health. Identifying what we should not eat is as important as learning about things we should eat. As we have a clearer picture of what is good or bad we can then make correct choices concerning our health.
One comment I hear often is that everything causes cancer and this becomes an excuse to eat things that are bad for your health. The truth is that there are many things that do not cause cancer and are actually items that will fight against cancer.
Fruits are anti-cancer products that you can eat. Eating more close to raw foods or steamed foods will help you to be come heather. Eating Grain and fruit in the season of the food is better for your health.
There is a lot of controversy on the subject of Chocolate as many people will say that Chocolate is good for you. Not taking into the fact that Chocolate has Caffeine in it which is known not to be good for the body. Chocolates also have high amounts of Sugar which is also not good for the body.
I will post some articles to show how bad Chocolate and Caffeine is for the body as well as Carbonation. If you were to avoid all Chocolate and Caffeine but still were to use soft drinks you would also be consuming a product that is bad for you. Soft Drinks are high in sugar some have high fructose corn syrup and many other ingredients that are not good for your body. Your fasting glucose level is lower if you drink soft drinks and the likely hood of become over weight increases with the consumption of soft drinks. Your bones suffer as the body has to take calcium from your bones in order to balance out the PH in your blood.
I will cover some of this in future articles. I will be moving from post to pages as pages make more sense for the type of website I want to create here.
You must be willing to change your health habits if you want to be heather. Identify the good and bad foods in your diet and then change your diet. If you know what is good and bad to eat but do not follow healthy practices your health will not be as great as if you change your eating habits. It can be difficult at first to make the switch to eating correctly.
However I have found that I enjoy having a body that feels healthy. I plan to continue to learn about foods and practices that are good for your health and not simply opinions by the public or government which is wrong.
I have been focusing on eating correctly knowing that I also need to do something about getting a regular exercise program to improve my health. The problem is we are all too busy. Though something has to be done if you want to improve your health.
I have about 30 goats, 4 dogs and 2 horses. Each of which need to be trained. Obedience training while walking the animals will not only make them more pleasurable but also increases my health. Doing farm choirs helps as well but it not something that I can truly measure. I need a regular scheduled plan that I can follow for winter as well as the rest of the season.
I hate winter and it seems to cause me to hibernate during the winter months. However I can’t let that continue as I need to be healthy all year round.
As I become older I realize that I cannot be as active now as I was in my youth. The energy levels are lower, the need to eat as much is down. However it is my desire as I age and to be heather by learning and changing my health habits.
I am 51 years old but often people mistake me for being in my late 30′s or some may actually guess early 40′s. Usually the guess is 10 – 15 years off of my true age. I have very little gray though that is most likely do to my genes rather than my healthy habits. Although there is no reason I can’t be as healthy as my age appearance seems to be to others.
